Hi, so i noticed that we've introduced ourselves here but not many threads discussing hobbies and the such.

I'm kind of boring all I do is play games and watch anime, cartoons and animation shorts.

As a hobby I like to draw and I really want to learn animation and 3d character modeling...im in the dreaming phase until i earn enough money from my minimum wage job until i can buy the ungodly expensive programs in order to even evolve from a viewer to a creator lol.

I own a tablet and I plan on opening an art shop in the forums when I stop being lazy lol.

But anyway as to what the topic is about I really enjoy anime in fact im watching pretty much all of the falls current season line up well trying too XD so much anime not enough time to watch it all.

I'm watching my favorites every week when i have time and im planning on marathoning the others when the season comes to an end and there's nothing to watch for like a week or two before the winter season.

Any of you watching current anime or any di-hard fans of older shows?

I appreciate anime but it's rare I find one I like and would watch all the way through...
I don't like ones that focus on one main character with some unfortunate sidekicks that never get a fair look-in except for like one episode in a series lol.
I like trying to draw anime - though there's definitely better than me out there :D

I have to agree Berserk is metal. Just reading the first few chapters insane but when you get into the flashback arc seeing guts past and how he grew up and then the ending of that arc....freakin ouch man freakin ouch

Is this a serious question? Yes, I like anime. Though I like to read manga more. Favorite anime of all time, and i'll probably get griefed for this, is Trigun. The Dragon Ball series is my favorite golden oldie, And Cowboy Bebop was the start of the obsession.

Either they like only the art style (not actually watching an anime) or just look at the game as a game and not an art. Still, it's pretty funny.

Anyway, it's not often I watch anime, but when I do, it's usually ones that I see a lot over the internet or refer myself to from another source (the only exceptions to this are Soul Eater and Chobits).

Yes its a serious question also trying to find people to discuss shows about lol. And I don't see why you'd be griefed the ones you've listed are classics. Trigun is absolutly wonderful only recently was I able to get a hold of my own copy of badlands. Dragonball was the reason most of western countries even became anime fans so no fault there and lastly you can't beat Cowboy Bebop and its cool factor.

When I see a lot of people posting gifs or images from a show raving about it I kind of have to watch it even if it didnt catch my eye to begin with. Thats what happened to me when I watched Attack on Titan, and I'm glad I watched it

I like very much Sword art Online ftw

If you like sword art online i recommend Log Horizon, another anime about people getting stuck in games,

and of course .Hack// series is good too.

Oh I believe the anime Accel World is based in the future of sword art online (pretty sure they mention nerve gears in the anime)

I also liked Gurren Lagann. Watched the whole series when it aired in Japan (subs ftw yo!), and it was pretty interesting. One Piece (manga and anime) is just downright entertaining. HATED Naruto after they got into that Shippuden crap, and Bleach became dull. Akame ga Kill is definitely a good one though. As is Kill la Kill, but the fanservice is a little much in that one.

I tried so hard to get into gintama but i couldnt get hooked, not sure if its cause it had a slow start or if thats just the pace of all the episodes but it got boring for me after a while (comedy was never really my thing) but i absolutly love all the references made in the show. Gurren Lagann is absolutly stunning visual porn for me (meaning the animation is very unique and stuff) I first saw a few episodes when they aired on this obscure channel in my basic cable years ago i think it was called the international channel and aired some dubbed and subbed anime. I saw it subbed and i just loved it. when i was older I was able to marathon the show on the computer and BASED TRIGGER IS GOD.

I dont care what anyone says but I enjoyed the 4kids opening for one piece lol XD but im happy what funimation did with the dubbing, I havent gotten too far into it though but i dont consider it bad I just havent had the urge to go through all those episodes.

I was lucky enough to actually follow naruto from the beginning waiting each week for the next episode so i didnt feel overwhelmed with so many episodes (like bleach, one piece, Reborn!, Beelzebub, and Hunter x Hunter) I understand why people dont like it but I enjoyed it. did you know the creator wanted to end the show years ago but the company funding him wanted 5 more years of product and it ended up being a 15 year long running series? I think its pretty amazing feat.

Akame Ga Kill is heart wrenching the first episode hits hard and fast hooking you into the show and i cry evrytim

Kill La Kill once again BASED TRIGGER, I recommend When Super powered battles become commonplace. It's a new series currently airing made by trigger they snuck in a Kill La Kill cameo like second episode and it was hilarious

Speaking of Beelzebub, when i read the first chapter of the manga I laughed so hard I almost choked to death. True story. I never did finish Reborn!. It should have ended after the future arc imo. HxH is one of the best manga I've ever read. It's a great story, though I'm sad the author was too sick to really finish it. Still slow with the updates, but at least the Chimera Ant arc is complete.

i messed up once and started watching the second season first when i was looking spice and wolf up but havent tried to fix my mistake and watch the first season yet. Chobits was my guilty pleasure when I had Anime on Demand as a kid. Never watched an episode of Elfen Lied idk even know what its about. FLCL one of my top favorites the animation was unique i really like the dark tones and colors the story....well could you really say it was a story? lol but yeah I loved it

Beelzebub and Reborn! its like two sides of the same coin. one side you got Tsuna who isnt the greatest but becomes a great mob boss from the help of his friends, and then on the other side you have Oga who's friends want to help him by doing the clishe lets train to overcome our obstacles thing but Oga like Nope im already the best there is XD btw Hilda is hawt

I recommend finishing Reborn! it ended pretty well in my opinion but omg was the beginning slow as hell only reason i stuck through was cause i wanted to see how tsuna became so badass in the amvs i watched on youtube lol

And i agree about Hunter x Hunter and was the author actually sick i thought he just hurt his back. I loved the last episode of Hunter x Hunter though made it so they could actually come back to the anime if the manga get more volumes out.

Yea the author has been sick since like the middle of the manga. Took a 2 year hiatus and came back strong. Then stopped again. Then came back. Stopping in the middle of the Chimera Ant saga sucked, but when it came back i cried tears of joy. And yes, the anime can come back after a few more volumes of the manga. It hasn't ended yet. In fact, It seems there's gonna be a TON more chapters coming. Question: Who's your favorite character so far?

Gon's pretty bad-a and so is his dad, Gin. But the best character by far is Meruem, the Chimera Ant King. The idea of a genius child born with more power than any human in the universe slowly being humbled by a blind girl he can't beat in chess was great.

Yes, indeed they are! Japanese with English subs. Some of them are kind of like American drama (like TNT) others are more reminiscent of sitcoms.. But we international people (or those that I have spoken to) still call them all dramas~

Yeah, I've always thought that too! Maybe it boils down to sort of a "want what you don't have" or "can't appreciate what you have" sort of mindset? Or perhaps it's part of human nature's curiosity: to want to explore/understand things that are unfamiliar? Or, on a more negative light, maybe people are just more critical of their own culture/know its flaws and idolize other cultures, and as a result, they look to other cultures for a "better" entertainment? Whatever the reason is, I have definitely succumbed to it. I enjoy shows from all over the world.

So, you're a fan of Community? And there's a "fest" going on? Like, a big group of people all watching it together?

I guess "the grass is always greener on the other side". And perhaps some people are just contrarians, they seek truth that aren't mainstream, and that is great in a way that it unites the same kind of people together. Fest? Oh I just realized that I was using the wrong word. What I meant is probably 'marathon', yes like in a netflix marathon lol. A friend recommended it to me and I guess I like the show and how it portrays multiculturality and such!

I love anime (and manga) too. However, I'm a bit picky. For this season, I'm following Log Horizon S2 and Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken only. I don't have enough time so I'll probably marathon the others in my list. And winter season's line-up looks great so I'm waiting for it :X

ok..i have a huge problem...i'm out of anime's to watch XD if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them via PM or something please ^^

I prefer mecha anime's like Code Geass and Gundam, as well as anime's like Death Note and SAO/Fairy Tail..and sometimes gory like Hellsing Ultimate and Berserk lol

If you haven't watched Aldnoah Zero yet, then you should probably consider it :)

I have started to dislike anime a little. so many of them just kills the manga that I love and it kills me, so I am more of a manga person than an anime one it seems.
However, I can really appreciate original anime!! :D

This. Especially with the second season around the corner.

Some other mech series that may prove to be enjoyable (in my opinion):
FullMetal Panic (http://myanimelist.net/anime/71/Full_Metal_Panic!)
Break Blade (http://myanimelist.net/anime/22433/Break_Blade_%28TV%29)
Suisei no Gargantia (http://myanimelist.net/anime/16524/Suisei_no_Gargantia)

I love the big boobed anime girls. The absurdity is fabulous~

Ah, to be a big eyed, big boobed girl in a anime world.

And also of course be able to kill zombies or demons.

If only I had one wish~

I know it was popular but Death Note is still my favourite anime of all time. I tend to enjoy bloody action anime with little filler like Hellsing OVA and Elfen Lied. The only exceptions to this are...YuYu Hakusho and ofc DBZ...and...SAILOR MOON!

Ahhh, anime. My vice and liberation. I love you so, only have so much time to watch anything.

The latest anime I finished was Tonari no Seki-kun. Started NGNL, haven't finished. That's how far behind I am. Luckily, I have a friend who watches anime for me and let's me know which I should and shouldn't watch. Unfortunately, I want to watch everything anyway.

Read some Akame ga Kill, haven't gotten caught up. Heard the anime is deviating hard (FMA anyone? ) which is a real shame.

I like Ranma 1/2, DB/DBZ, Hellsing, Cowboy BeBop, Fairytale, Digimon, Rune Soldier Louie, Rorouni Kenshin, Shaman King, Slayers, One Piece. Watched Tower of Druaga and in the process of watching Tales of Symphonia. I like the Eva..

My favorite is One Piece and I've watched it all the way through several times as I wait for more episodes to be subbed. I love the loyalty of the crew for each other and the fact each crew member has their own strength and weaknesses that are used all the time. Makes me wish I had Nakama like that.

Crystal is the first 26-eps serie, condensed to 10 eps, so you can guess how much have been omitted there. If I recall correctly, was done to celebrate 20 years from the release of ep.1 of first serie.

All the eps:
Sailor Moon 1-46
Sailor Moon R 47-89
Sailor Moon Promise of the Rose
Sailor Moon S 90-127
Sailor Moon Super S 128-166
Sailor stars 167-200

You really do know your sailor moon stuff. This anime is near and dear to my heart. It was the first anime I had seen as a kid. Shocking part is I never got to watch the end episodes for Sailor Moon :( I should watch online. The broadcaster didn't have all episodes dubbed back then so they would run the show up until almost the end then start from the beginning again. Same happened with dbz and pokemon. qq also just want to add in that Linda Ballantyne's voice really annoys me...lol

So really, a few anime I like, but to much anime.

Hangs onto stereotypes to much and so really boring.

I love anime @_@ Unfortunately the internet in my room is slow however, so usually I just read manga. I tend to prefer shoujo/comedy...Ouran High School Host Club, Azumanga Daioh, Kamisama Hajimemash.ite, Vampire Knight, a bunch that haven't been made into anime...I also like Inuyasha, and I love Spice and Wolf @w@ I like others too, like Naruto, Fairy Tale, One Piece, and Death Note, I just haven't found the time to watch all of them and usually move onto something else before I can.

I like Anime~ it's what bridged me over to learning more of traditional Japanese culture and cuisine. Though I'm not exactly the type of person who watches every kind of anime and eagerly anticipate the latest ones and new seasons. I think I'm super picky about what I watch. Might be just me, but I usually stray away really really popular ones because I feel kinda weird to watch it along people and hear everyone rave about it. My only exception would probably be One Piece.

I'm also more fond of older animes, anything from the 90s and back. I really enjoy the various art styles from the older animes.

I actually only play mmo's that have anime style. I love reading manga. I rarely watch anime, as I prefer to read, but when I do watch anime, I refuse to watch dubbed. English voices just sound really dumb to me LOL.
Btw: So sad Naruto is over :'(, but at least I still have Fairy Tail to read.

I love anime, but I hate people who just throw out random Japanese words. Using kawaii in a normal conversation will make me want to set you on fire.

I was watching Psycho-Pass with my girlfriend earlier, so that was pretty neat.

I can speak Japanese, and I use it when it's needed and everything's all fine and normal.

When people mix in stuff like 'kawaii' and 'baka' and 'desu' when speaking English though, it grates on the ears. ><

I bombed that first one, but 34 on the second one. Most the ones I missed are on my to-watch list, but some of these I've never heard of. Like Violinist of Hameln, Geneshaft, Sankarea, or Jellyfish Princess. (I did terribly with the first one because I'm still catching up)

I disagree with this. When manga and anime deviate, they're usually done in a way that you can appreciate both. Besides, it makes more sense to me to experience the lesser of the two, and then the better to see what was missed out on. (Like why read the book/comic before watching the movie if you know the movie is worse?)

I feel that manga goes by faster than Anime, because anime takes it's time to... Animate some scenes. Plus the story seems to move along faster in my opinion. I do agree with you to a point about manga as there are many anime that cut out or miss some key parts that's originally in the manga. (i.e. Gash/Zatch Bell ): That anime shoulda been continued! The manga was INTENSE.)
